NODO started as a studio/gallery founded by Jonathan Ruiz de la Peña y César Vázquez. It was situated in downtown Tijuana. Where the gallery exhibited art from emerging artists of Tijuana and other cities of México. Now NODO is a collective that exhibit´s at art fairs and festivals in México and USA.
This project emerged in 2009 during the art festival Tijuana en Revolución (Tijuana in Revolution), during which abandoned stores in the "Pasaje Rodríguez" (located in downtown Tijuana) were used for exhibit ontemporary artworks from young artists over a four day period. Claudia Ramírez, Efrén Parra, Paola Cortes, Jonathan Ruiz de la Peña and César Vázquez were among the participating artists. After a first successful experience Claudia Ramírez and Efrén Parra decided to invite other artists that might be interested in renting the abandoned shops to enable them as studio/gallerys in a more permanent manner. Jonathan Ruiz de la Peña and César Vázquez said yes and decided to create a gallery project called NODO (NODE). The "Pasaje Rodríguez" is a culturally enhanced urban location where you can find art galleries, artists studios, bookstores and more.
